Dr Stephen Henry (Optom) Grad Cert Ocular Therapeutics

Stephen graduated from QUT in 1999 and moved to Toowoomba to work alongside John Walcott in Margaret Street. The practice later moved to Clifford Gardens in 2000. After Mr Walcott retired in 2007, Stephen decided to relocate to the Medici Medical Centre where the practice is located today.
He completed his Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics from QUT in 2008 and continues a keen interest in treating and managing anterior and surface eye disease.
Stephen’s clinical interests include Diabetic Eye Disease, Glaucoma, Macula Degeneration, Contact Lenses, and ocular photography and imaging.
Stephen is a regular presenter for the Toowoomba Diabetic Support Group and volunteers for the Essilor Vision Foundation. Stephen also consults at the Toowoomba Base Hospital Ophthalmology Clinic conducting eye testing in preparation for cataract surgery.

Outside of the practice, Stephen is married to Mikaela and they have two beautiful daughters Amelia and Georgia. He is a jazz singer and plays Tenor Sax as the frontman in his own band, The Stephen Henry Quartet.
On the sporting front, Stephen plays touch football, competes in triathlon and when he has time, enjoys the odd round of golf.

Dr Naomi Wysel (Optom) (Hons) Grad Cert Ocular Therapeutics

Naomi studied Optometry at QUT in Brisbane and then moved to Toowoomba in 2006 to work along side Stephen. Since then she has set down roots in this beautiful city, married a local teacher, and has had three energetic little boys. Naomi has a keen interest in working with children and families. She values the role that Optometrists play in providing healthy, clear and comfortable vision for children, so that they may enjoy life and reach their learning potential!

Her interests extend further than purely children’s vision however and like Stephen, Naomi has achieved her Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics. This equips Naomi to prescribe required ocular medications to treat inflammation, allergy and infection of the eye, as well as co-manage glaucoma treatment. Naomi is also the resident optometrist with the IDEAS Van program improving the quality of eye health in the indigenous community.

Naomi has a passion for ensuring that people of all ages receive helpful and effective eye care. Her aim is for each and every patient to leave their appointment understanding more about their eye health and vision needs. She is always happy to answer any questions and looks forward to seeing you all soon!

Sammi-Jo Timm

Optical Dispenser

Sammi has been working in the optics field for 3 years.
Sammi joined our team in 2018 and she has a passion and a gift for matching the perfect frame with every face she encounters. As well as being an experienced frame style consultant, Sammi also has a keen interest in prescription sunglasses.
Originally hailing from New Zealand, Sammi is a life-long supporter of the All-Blacks (although we won’t hold that against her). She lives in Toowoomba and enjoys gardening, baking and theatrical make-up.

Karen Bates

Optical Dispenser (Retired)

Karen began working alongside Stephen in 2000 in the Margaret Street practice and she has been a prominent figure in the history of the practice.
Although Karen has officially retired, she pops in from time to time to help out on odd days and still enjoys giving Stephen cheek.
She lives with her partner Barry and enjoys gardening, baking and touring outback Australia in style. Karen is a proud Grandmother of 6.
